Reviewed: Beautycounter

It’s definitely not a rare occurrence that I get sent products to try out (which I’m very grateful for), but not everything makes it on the blog unless I really love it or have a strong opinion about it. The Beautycounter was kind enough to send me their Lustro Face Oil, Lip Sheer in Scarlett and Essentials Skincare Line Sample Kit earlier this summer and while I couldn’t wait to try it, it arrived at a particularly hectic time for me. Since the sampler kit lasted about a week, I  brought it with me on my East Coast adventures and started using it the second week I was there. I was still on the cape but it was after the July 4th, birthday/engagement madness and after all the sugar and alcohol consumed, my skin needed some TLC.

Let’s start with the sample kit which includes the Routine Clean cream cleanser, Gentle Exfoliator polishing cream, Everyday AM hydrating cream, Every night PM hydrating and the Any Time eye cream. If you aren’t familiar with Beautycounter yet, they are a brand that prides themselves on skincare and beauty products that are chic but more importantly safe, free of toxins & effective! For each product on the site you can see all the ingredients listed which I think is totally awesome!

My Experience

I have to say on the first day of my “routine” my skin immediately felt softer & rehyrdrated than it had the previous week. I absolutely loved the pretty & refreshing citrus scent the products had as well. In truth it felt like a mini spa treatment for my face – which is exactly what I needed.

I’m going to be honest and say that while I liked the overall product of the Lustro oil (which I used generously on my neck and face at night) I wasn’t a total fan of the scent I had which is Jasmine. If I were to go through this bottle and get another, I’d try Calendula or Chamomile – but thats my personal preference.

I really do love the lip sheers! They are perfect for everyday because they give you build-able color and are super moisturizing. Plus the packaging gets an A+ for me. I’d love to try more shades for sure!

Overall Verdict

– Great products in terms of ingredients, formula and packaging. I love when products are made with good things and are actually effective! Duh.

– Amazing for sensitive & dry skin.

– Would I purchase full size products? If I had a little bit more money in my bank account – absolutely. The full sized products I tried range from $24 – $64. While that is actually fairly reasonable for quality skincare these days, it’s still a little pricey for me for an everyday product. If these prices are in your budget and you are looking for well made, toxin free, effective products – they definitely are a must try!
