Photo Diary: Santa Barbara

Last week Chevrolet invited Glitter Guide to test out the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV on a road trip from Laguna Beach up to Santa Barbara for a luxurious stay at The Bacara Resort & Spa! How could I say no? Today, I’m sharing my experience and taking you along on the trip. Be prepared to be inspired to plan a summer road trip with your girls — and a stay at The Bacara…

12pm Page One drops off the new 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV: When the car was dropped off, Page One walked through all the awesome features of the vehicle and helped me set up my music via my phone and navigation through Apple CarPlay! I also set up my ChargePoint card which makes finding a charging station and paying for a charge incredibly easy! After loading up the car with my things and saying goodbye to my pup, I hit the road!

5:30pm Arrival at The Bacara Resort & Spa: Due to some traffic going through LA, I ended up arriving at the resort & spa a little later than planned. I checked in, got settled in my room and freshened up to meet the rest of the group for dinner and drinks!

6:30pm Dinner at Sunstone Winery & Vineyard: Dinner and wine tasting at the Sunstone Winery & Vineyard was absolutely incredible – I felt like I was in the South of France. Besides the beautiful grounds, the food and wine were delicious! We did some wine tasting and nibbled on some appetizers in the courtyard before having dinner in a candle-lit cave. It was magical and I had such a nice time getting to know some of the other girls on the getaway!

8:30am Yoga at The Bluff: Tuesday morning, we started off with a relaxing yoga session by The Bluff on the resort property. It was such a lovely morning and it felt really nice to start the day with some stretching!

9:30am Hike at Refugio State Park: After our yoga session we took a short drive in our Chevy Bolt EVs over to Refugio State Park for a little hike along the coast line which was absolutely beautiful! It is such a pretty area up there.

11:30am Brunch on Ocean Terrace: After driving back to the resort, we had the most delicious brunch ob the Ocean Terrace which also overlooked the Spa pool. After a fairly active morning I fueled up on eggs, bacon, salad and of course, lots of coffee!

12pm Pool time: We pretty much had the whole afternoon free to spend some quality time at the pool and indulge in a few spa treatments – which is a pretty fabulous way to spend a Tuesday afternoon if you ask me! I had some time before my first appointment at 1 so I brought a magazine and parked myself at the pool!

1pm Diamond Rose Experience: My first spa appointment was the Diamond Rose Experience which is an exfoliating massage followed by rose oil and put my into instant relaxation mode. My skin felt smooth and rejuvenated after the 50 minute spa treatment!

2pm Bespoke Facial: Next I had a facial which felt absolutely amazing! My esthetician was so nice and tailored the facial to my skin type which is typically more dry and very sensitive. My face felt so smooth, supple and hydrated afterwards and looked like it was glowing. I so could get used to a monthly facial – and massage if we are wishing for things.

After the spa I went back to my room to check some emails before getting ready for dinner!

6:30pm Dinner at Angel Oak: Tuesday night’s dinner was at Angel Oak which is in the resort and was actually right around the corner from my hotel room! We had drinks and appetizers on the patio overlooking the coastline – which at sunset, was absolutely spectacular. We all chatted about our relaxing afternoons and lamented on the fact that we had to head home the next morning! After a delicious four course meal and lots of good conversation with new friends and connections, I headed back to the room for a nice bath and some TV before bed!

10am Checkout and Exploring Santa Barbara: After a little sleep in, I packed up my stuff, checked out of the hotel and headed into downtown Santa Barbara for a little coffee and exploring. While my vehicle was fully charged when I left the hotel (thanks to their many charging stations located on the property) I wanted to make sure I maintained as much charge before I drove back down to Laguna Beach and used my ChargePoint app to find a charging station right off of State Street! It was another gorgeous day and I decided to grab an iced latte at The French Press before perusing State Street. I was so in awe at how charming downtown Santa Barbara is -I probably could have spent hours there! I explored a few shops including Wendy Foster, which was adorable, and admired the architecture and quaint details of the neighborhood before hopping back in my car to head to my next spot!

12pm Lunch in Montecito: I had done a little research before the trip and thought that grabbing lunch at the San Ysidero Pharmacy and Coffee shop would be fun! The coffee shop is super cute and attached to a pharmacy with an old school vibe and carries an variety of brands and eurpean imported products as well as other goodies. I sat on the patio with a cobb salad and lemon water before poking around the pharmacy. Around the corner were a few other boutiques and shops and I couldn’t resist popping into Jenni Kayne where I pretty much wanted to buy everything. Just a few minutes down the road from Santa Barbara, the town of Montecito is just as charming and I left vowing to return to the Montecito and Santa Barbara area again soon!

2pm Heading home to Laguna Beach: Around 2 pm I headed back down to Laguna Beach and decided to take the scenic route on the PCH via Malibu since it was such a beautiful day. Despite hitting some traffic in LA, the ride was really easy and relaxing. I love how smooth the Bolt EV drives and with my tunes hooked up to the car, I could have cruised around all day.

6pm Arrived back in Laguna Beach: I arrived home feeling so grateful for the past few days of R&R with some amazing ladies at one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. I can’t thank Chevrolet, The Bacara Resort and The Narrative group enough for such an amazing getaway. I definitely can’t wait to take another road trip back up there – maybe next time with my husband in tow!
